Josh and Amy — that’s us — met in an Old Testament Poetry class at BJU in 2003. After a few years of not dating, we started hanging out at the end of 2006. That quickly turned into a serious dating relationship, which quickly turned into a 10-month engagement. (This is Josh speaking — In my opinion, any engagement that’s longer than the time it takes to drive to the courthouse is too long!)
We were married on 28 June 2008, and soon thereafter moved from Greenville, SC, to Arlington, TX, where Josh is working on his Ph.D. in Linguistics at The University of Texas at Arlington (here’s Josh’s rarely-updated professional page at UTA). Since November 2007, Amy has been teaching elementary school music in the Dallas Independent School District. In her spare time she works on her Ed.D. dissertation (BJU). It is our desire to serve our Lord in as missionaries in Cambodia after we finish our educations.
At the beginning of the summer of 2009, we were excited to find out that our first baby was on her way. In August we got a due date: February 19, 2010. Due to complications with the pregnancy, we moved into the hospital on November 16, and on November 26, we got a nice Thanksgiving surprise — the birth by C-section of our daughter, Rebecca (Becca) Grace Jensen.
Becca was in the NICU at Arlington Memorial Hospital from about 30 minutes after her birth until February 11, 2010. You can read more about her progress — and ours — at the blog.
Love the pictures!! Looks like you all are having a great time.
