Becca’s New Room!

This week, for the first time since coming home, Becca moved into her “own room.” We live in a one-bedroom apartment, and Becca has been sleeping in a pack-n-play in our bedroom. When my mom came to visit right after Becca was born, she helped me clear out the closet, so we would have room for Becca. Monday, I decided it was time for Becca to have her own room, and it’s been working wonderfully. (The photos on the left were taken before the switch; the photos on the right, after. Becca’s bed used to be where theย  black stacked drawers are now located.)

When Becca was sleeping in our room, her bed was right outside of the bathroom door. We always had to be careful about going in when Becca was napping. We now have the freedom to go into our bedroom or the restroom anytime we want without the fear of waking Becca. It’s been really nice, and the move has made our bedroom seem more spacious. It’s also opened up some extra play space for Becca and Mommy when Josh needs to get something done in the living room (where his desk and computer are).

Becca is doing well with eating solids. She typically has rice cereal two times a day, and we’re practicing how to open our mouth wide (say AH!). Yesterday, I cooked her some carrots to try with her cereal. I’m not sure yet whether she prefers raw or cooked carrots – raw ones are definitely more fun to chew on. I spotted Becca’s first tooth making it’s way in, so she’s getting ready to chew those carrots.

We’re having lots of fun with Becca. She’s a very happy little girl and loves playing with her parents. She started rolling over both ways quite regularly and is reaching for objects. I love watching her examine new things. She is quite serious in her detective work.

  1. Loved the new pictures! The boys and I just looked at all of them. Glad Becca has her own space now (and that you guys guys have your own space as well!). Luke thinks it’s “amazing” that Becca can eat raw carrots. Love seeing the pictures and hearing about Becca’s progress. There are so many fun “new” things at this stage!

  2. Megan and Joel have followed pretty much your architectural plan as well. Although they have 2 bedrooms, one room really has to function as a guest room/study since being at Northland lends itself to always having someone needing a “place to stay for the night”! So, Megan cleared out the closet in that room and put the pack/play in there and hung curtains as a “wall” and, there ya go – instant bedroom! Love your pictures…….she is growing up so fast– and is a cutie pie!!

  3. What a creative idea to put her bed in the closet! You’ve done a great job, Amy (& Josh). Becca gets cuter and cuter all the time!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love the pictures of her in laundry baskets. She looks soooo big! She has such a great smile. Thanks for being so consistent with the posts–something fun to look forward to on Thursday morning.

  5. Just looked at all the adorable pictures of Becca. She surely is enjoying life! The closet for her bedroom was very innovative – but nothing “new”. In our little home on BJU campus almost 59 years ago and after Rick had outgrown the basinette, we put his new crib mattress on one side of our walk-through closet (went from our one room to the bathroom). It was a perfect fit for the mattress and Great-grandpa made the removable fourth side out of wooden dowels and strips of wood at top and bottom. Necesity is definitely the “mother of invention”! Love you all.

  6. Love the pictures! Happy to see that the pack and play fits in the closet! Your Uncle Sam had his first crib in our big closet/dressing room in our apartment in Dallas. It was a little room between the bathroom and living room, just big enough to fit a crib. Love seeing your creative toys!!
