Happy 13th Birthday, Isaiah!

We now have two teenagers in our family! We had a fun time celebrating Isaiah’s birthday starting with his countdown calendar which included a bike ride with Daddy, game afternoon with Mommy, swimming, movie night (Captains Courageous), fresh OJ, and other things. Each day Isaiah had to do a math problem to figure out which door to open next. The week before we celebrated Isaiah’s birthday, he was sick and quite lethargic for three days. We were thankful that he recovered in time to celebrate his birthday.

We ended up celebrating Isaiah’s birthday on Monday, since Sunday isn’t a good day for us to do anything extra. He had the most unusual birthday cake we’ve ever made – a white layer cake with minimal frosting. But that’s what he wanted, so we made the cake together on his birthday. For snack on Isaiah’s birthday we made pancakes. Then the girls played Monopoly with Isaiah in the afternoon. Isaiah chose tacos as his birthday meal – including freshly made chips. After dinner we did gifts and had cake, then we ended the night with Isaiah’s birthday slideshow.

Isaiah is a fine young man who is helpful and enjoys his siblings. He likes figuring out things and making things with wood. He’s faithful with his chores and does extra things like grinding the coffee beans and preparing the coffee at night for the next day. He has been a good student and always expresses thanks for the help I give him with his work. We’re thankful for our first-born son.
