Rebecca Grace Jensen – Born, November 26, 2009 at 5:58PM (emergency c-section). Weight: 2 pounds and 1 ounce. Length: 14 inches long.
After a rough morning and afternoon on Thanksgiving Day, our doctor decided it would be best to take our baby from the womb, hoping that she would do better outside than inside. Josh was able to see the baby at birth – I was only able to get a glance at her head and little arm from my place on the operating table, while they put me back together. Josh was able to go to the NICU later than evening and see little Becca.
I will describe our first day after Becca’s birth as being “awful.” The pain from the surgery was strong, intensified whenever I would move…getting out of bed was quite an accomplishment. The pain medication they gave me after the morphine was too strong and made my morning miserable. I finally got to see Becca in the afternoon…she’s so little and helpless and there’s no way I could help her. By the end of the day, both Josh and I were drained and discouraged.
But God is good. We know that He has us here for a purpose and that His hand is upon little Becca’s life. We are confident that He is working His good will for His glory and we look forward to seeing Him continue to work throughout the next several weeks. And I continue to pray “Lord, I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief” (Mark 9:24).
Praying for you Amy!!
It’s all going to be okay. Just rest . . . you really, really need it.
Things have certainly come a long way for such tiny babies as Rebecca. I am glad she’s okay. The concern you mentioned about the cord around her neck in the womb had me really worried. Just keep in mind that there’s a ton of folks praying for ya both, okay?
Take care, my old music-library buddy!!
Amy and Josh,
I can’t imagine what you are going through right now. Glad you finally got to go see your little girl, Amy. I know how hard it must be to feel helpless. We are praying for little Becca, as well as for you as you recover. Lots of love.
Josh and Amy,
We’re praying for you guys and little Becca! She is in the hands of “the Great Physician” which brings more comfort than anything modern medicine can offer! We will be praying for you guys as you and Becca will no doubt have encouraging and discouraging days! God’s grace and the confidence to know that He is sovereign and works all things for our good and His glory will be the strength that sustains you! Praying! We love you!

Amy, thank you so much for your honesty. I think many forget or don’t understand the emotions, especially those of us without children yet. Thank you for sharing your feelings surrounding the birth of your little girl. I have appreciated all of the updates from you and Mom. I just wish I was closer. Love you lots, and we pray for you, Josh, and Becca frequently. Please tell Josh for us that we are VERY proud of him.
Amy & Josh, Ashleigh has said it all and to her comments I will add AMEN!!!! I am very prouud of you both and am praying for you three! Glad your mom is there! Love, G and GG

Praying for all 3 of you…
I think and pray for you numerous times throughout the day and even when I wake in the night! God’s grace is sufficient and your spirit is a trophy of His grace. You are helpless, but HE is not. Love and prayers.
Josh & Amy- It is so amazing to see pictures of Becca and to be able to hear how things are going so we will know how to continue praying. Thanks for keeping us updated and allowing us to be a part of this special time in your lives. We will of course pray for Becca that she will grow stronger each day… thanking the Lord that even though she is no longer in the womb, she certainly is still in the palm of His hands as He tenderly cares for her. We will also pray for both of you that you will continue to have amazing peace even in the midst of this storm. I know that you are trusting Him and have already seen Him work in amazing ways but surely there must at times be a storm of concern for this little one that you already love so dearly… isn’t it precious to know that He is the great Redeemer, not only for eternity but He also redeems all the difficult trials of life and brings His glory into our lives and hearts as we learn to trust Him more deeply. What wonderful stories you will have to tell sweet Becca someday about God’s redemption and faithfulness during these first days of her life.
Much love and prayers,
Aunt JoBeth
