Just a few pictures….

IMG_1287Becca’s “honeymoon” period is over — as the nurse said — and her ventilator had to start doing a lot more work for her today. The NICU nurses say that normally, babies have a “honeymoon” period for the first 24-48 hours in the NICU and then it takes a while for them to adjust. So…Becca’s now “adjusting” to her new home in the NICU. The good news is that they started feeding her today – 1 ml every hour for three hours and then she gets a break for an hour, so they can check to make sure she’s digesting her food. Usually babies “fail” at this feeding process a few times…but she’s had a good start so far. She’s now getting what I’ve been pumping for her the past three days.

  1. So glad she is getting her Mommy’s milk now. That is going to certainly help her. Praying that she’ll adjust quickly and won’t need as much oxygen.

  2. Congrats on your little trukey for THanksgiving. Yes C-sections are no fun. I almost passed out the first time they tried to get me out of bed. No one prepares you for the amount of pain. Glad I found your website and look forward to the updates. Congrats again.

  4. Hi Josh and Amy! Just wanted to let you guys know we are thinking of you and hoping little Rebecca continues to adjust to life on the outside. Feel free to email if you are up to it. We will keep checking for updates.

  5. Amy, I look at those pictures and am just amazed again at the wonder of God’s marvelous creative power and the fact that, though tiny, Becca is beautifully proportioned and “fearfully and wonderfully made.” I’m sure you’re so happy to have a part in her feedings now, and we’re praying that she’ll grow stronger every day. Hope you’re starting to feel some better, too! Hope this is a good day for all 3 of you!

  6. Thank you for the pictures, She’s beautiful! I hope the 3 of you are doing well. We are praying Becca will improve daily.

  7. Hi Amy and Josh,
I am sending this message to your Facebook as well. You will be receiving a package from Amazon via UPS today (Wednesday). My prayer is that this is a help and encouragement to you both. Remember, God is in control, he made Rebecca and knows what He’s doing! I’ve seen SO MANY 28 week babies ( and younger!) do wonderfully. With much, much love and prayer. Sandy Zeloof

  8. I was wondering if your body would adjust to start feeding her–wonderful! Keep it up! God was so smart when he invented mommy & baby. 🙂 We’re praying for all of you.
