Pictures from Monday (11-30-2009)

IMG_1332-1Monday evening I was discharged from the hospital and returned to our home after being away for 15 days. It was NICU 11-30-2009weird to think of all that changed since my admission on Nov. 16th. It was hard to leave the hospital, since I was leaving Becca behind. I never dreamed I’d have our baby early or leave the hospital without her in my arms. I made it up all 17 steps to our second floor apartment and am adjusting to what I can and cannot do as I recover from the c-section.

IMG_1331-1Before we left the hospital, I was able to visit Becca twice. The first time I was able to help change her diaper…it was a little bit scary to change a diaper on a baby that small! I was also able to stick my little finger in Becca’s hand. She likes to grip things and usually holds on to her feeding and ventilator tubes – I’m thinking she’s used to grabbing her cord. It was very special to have our little girl hold on to my finger.

Becca is doing well. She started being fed her mommy’s milk on Monday. She’s currently up to taking 3ml every hour. It’s exciting to see my “work” finally being used.IMG_1344

IMG_1359My mom is with us until Dec. 10th. She’s been our photographer and cook. She’s excited to be a grandma for the first time. We appreciate all her help as we adjust to our new schedules. She also captured our weather event of the day – snow in Texas.

  1. That picture of Becca holding your finger is absolutely precious!! (Definitely brought some tears to my eyes!) I’m so glad that she’s doing well and that you were able to go home. We’ll be praying that you’re able to continue your rest and recovery at home. So glad your mom is able to be there for awhile; hope it’s a special time for all of you.

  2. We continue to pray for you and your precious little one. Glad mom is there for you and Josh. I have been able to print your posts and pass them on Mrs. Sutter. She so misses you and know that your little one is on our prayer list here at NDC.

  3. Amy, how precious and how sad at the same time. As Becky, it brought a tear to my eye as well. I have it as the background on my computer as another reminder to pray. I know that God is giving you strength to handle the daily disappointments and difficulties as well as the joys, and I know that you would not change the lessons He is teaching you for anything. Praying for God’s supernatural continued grace.
    Love,
    Donna

  4. I know I already told you this, but I love the picture of her holding your finger. So precious. We prayed for extra grace on Monday as you went home without Becca.

  5. Hi Amy, Im so glad that you got to go home, you will rest better. I know how hard it is to leave a baby in the hospital, I had to leave Richie when he was born and would travel back and forth to the hospital to feed him. It was very hard as you said to not bring that baby home, but I can tell she is strong, she is taking your milk that is excellent and is continuing to increase in the amount, wonderful!!.She has a good little grip! God hears every prayer, just yesterday, I was praying for Richie and what a wonderful way God answered, I will have to tell you some time an awesome story of how God uses the worst of times only to come back and bless you by them. No matter how old our children get God still gives uses so many trials so we will come to HIM with them . I am continually amazed at how God uses mother’s to love and pray for their children. How good it is to know He has little Rebecca in HIS precious hands and will moment by moment keep her in HIS care. I love you AMY. mrs.horak

  6. Hi Amy,
So very happy to hear Sweet little Rebecca is coming along. So glad to hear she is taking your milk. What a wonderful blessing that truly is. It was good to hear you were able to come home, but I know what that is like to leave your baby in the hospital. But she is in very good hands. The Lord has her in his strong, loving hands, and then he is watching and guiding the doctor’s and nurses.
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. All are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
    She is truly adorable.
Please know, that we are praying for God’s healing for both of you. That the Lord will give you two the strength and comfort to deal with that is ahead for you. And praying constantly that Rebecca gets stronger each day.
    Take care,
    Cindy Yacko

  13. Sweet pictures, Amy!!
Been praying for little Becca lots the past couple days–you too!!

Sounds like you’re a bit more rested, hopeful, and perky. I’m sure it helps tremendously to have your mom there. Moms always know how to pick us up, right?

Hang in there, my old Music library, pal!!
She’s a sweet, pretty little munchkin with lots of lovely dark hair, like her mommy!! She’s gonna be a heart-breaker!! 🙂

  14. Josh and Amy:

Congratulations on the safe arrival of your sweet little Becca.

Just to let you know that you and your precious little girl are in our prayers. May God give you the increased strength and health that you need to continue the daily routine of going back and forth and handling paperwork and classwork.

What a blessing to know that God is in control, and we look forward to seeing how He brings glory to Himself through Becca and your testimony of faith and trust to all of those with whom God brings across your path through her unexpected early arrival.

  17. Hello and congratulations on Rebecca Graces’s arrival. I from Beacon Baptist Church in Burlington, NC. I’ve followed the ministry of your family for a long time. I heard of Becca’s arrival from the Greg Phillip’s family who serve in our church as Minister of Music. I’m writing to let you know that I’m praying for you and to let you know that we have a granddaughter who was born in June who lives in Taylors. Her name is Rebekah Grace as well. She has some major health issues and has a webpage of her own. We as a family understand some of what you are going through. It sounds all too familiar. Just know that I’m praying for all of you. http://www.rebekahgraceellis.blogspot.com
